Narrative Counselling
Do You Want a Happier, Healthier and Joyous Life?
Would You Like To:
- Deal with issues such as problematic anger, anxiety or depression?
- Learn how to have a more connected and fulfilling relationship?
- Wake up feeling upbeat, positive and worry-free?
- Start living a happier, healthier and more joyous life?
Most of us want happier, healthier and more joyous lives. Yet it can be hard to achieve this. Feelings such as anger, anxiety or depression can take over our lives. Relationship issues may be destroying us. We may feel sad, lonely or stressed. We may be so busy that we run madly from one task to another-never feeling like we can get everything done.
Whatever situation we are in, life can get better. Problems such as anger, anxiety, depression or any other problem can be overcome. No matter how bleak it seems, life can change.
When faced with problems, it is often difficult to change our lives on own own. Sometimes we do not have the skills to respond to our issues. Other times we may be too close to the situation we are in to see it in useful ways. We may have tried everything to deal with the problems we are facing, but nothing is working. We can feel down, lost, hopeless, helpless and depressed.
Seeing a professional counsellor can help move us from this space. Counselling helps people to:
- Learn the skills, tools and techniques to overcome problematic feelings such as anger, anxiety or depression
- Develop skills to build loving and respectful relationships
- See themselves differently, including helping them to recognize their own skills, talents, value and achievements
- Improve their self-esteem and confidence
- Put in place specific actions to create the life happier, healthier and more joyous lives.

What Others Say About Me…
“Over the years, I believe that I have seen a total of 7-8 counsellors. Without any shred of exaggeration, my experience with Alastair was by far the best. He was extremely helpful and he really truly did change my situation at the time completely into a positive direction. I have recommended him to many people since. I will never forget what he did for me, and all I need to do is think about him and it renews my faith in people and that they can care and make a difference and things can change.”

Cost
Counselling is an investment in yourself. Spending a few hundred dollars now to improve your life can save you much stress and unhappiness in the future. Relationship counselling adds to your enjoyment of life as your life improves and you realize the fun, love and laughter you have been missing out on.
I charge $100 per session to help people improve their lives. People may stay in counselling for anything between 1 and 10-20 sessions. Usually people see considerable improvements in their lives in as little as four to eight sessions.
What Others Say (Continued)
Couples counselling has been one of the best experiences we have been through as a couple. I have learned how to control my anger in arguments and I am listening to my partner far more than I have before. We are much closer as a couple and look forward to our future together.

FAQ:
How Long Does Counselling Take?
The length of counselling depends on what issues you are facing. Most people make considerable improvement in their lives in as little as four to eight sessions.
What Is Your Success Rate?
It is difficult to clearly state success rates in counselling as everyone has a different definition of success. Most people report significant positive changes in their lives after four to eight counselling sessions.
Counselling has not worked for us previously. Why should this be different?
I am a highly effective counsellor. I have described some of the ways that I am unique above. Sometimes counselling does not work as a person is not fully ready for change. If you are unsure if counselling will work, ask yourself if you are ready for change. If you are, I will be able to help you achieve the changes you want to make.
Where Are You Located?
I am located at the Richardson Centre, 431 Lake Road, Takapuna, Auckland. There is plenty of parking available. If you are unable to get to Takapuna I also use Skype to provide online counselling for couples.

I usually hold appointments in usual work hours (8am to 6pm, Monday to Friday). You can check when sessions are available using my online booking system.
